Acupuncture**
The ancient Chinese believed that there is a universal life energy called Chi or Qi present in every living creature. This energy is said to circulate throughout the body along specific pathways that are called meridians. As long as this energy flows freely throughout the meridians, health is maintained, but once the flow of energy is blocked, the system is disrupted and pain and illness occur. Imagine rivers that flood and cause disasters or an electrical grid short-circuiting that causes blackouts. Acupuncture works to “re-program” and restore normal functions by stimulating certain points on the meridians in order to free up the Chi energy.

Reiki**
Reiki is a form of therapeutic touch. It is an energy medicine that is classified by the National Institute of Health (NIH) as a complementary alternative medicine (CAM). Reiki uses the meridians or chakras of the body by using a gentle laying on of hands in and around the body’s own bio-field to help bring balance to the recipient thereby creating a deep sense of well being.

The intent of Reiki is to raise the amount of positive energy flow in the body by releasing blocks that can create illness on all levels. Reiki promotes a deep sense of relaxation where enhanced healing can take place. When a body is deeply relaxed, blood pressure lowers, and respirations slow. By using gentle hand placements within the energy meridians of the body, Reiki works as a complement to traditional medicine allowing it to work more effectively or can be used cumulatively on it’s own to encourage healing. It is a non-invasive, non-manipulative form of therapy. Several sessions are recommended for optimal results.
