Sarah Giardenelli, ND, MSOM, LAc
Naturopathic Doctor & Licensed Acupuncturist

Sarah Giardenelli, ND, MSOM, LAc was born and raised in upstate New York. She completed her undergraduate studies in pre-medicine and psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Knowing from an early age that she wanted to help people achieve optimal health naturally, she found her calling at the National College of Natural Medicine, in Portland, OR. After six years of study, Sarah earned both a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine with Honors in Research and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. She then completed her naturopathic residency at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, outside of Rochester, NY.

Sarah integrates both Naturopathic and Chinese medicine in her practice. She has special interest in integrative medicine, nutrition, pain and chronic disease management, Chinese and Western herbs, community health, women's health, gastrointestinal health, and geriatric health. Sarah also has additional training in the prescription of Chinese formulas and in bio-therapeutic drainage, an individualized, whole systems approach to wellness through detoxification.

Sarah sees her service in the healthcare profession as an honor; part of the change to provide a better healthcare system for the community. Her passion for integrative and natural medicine stems from both her own personal expereince of relief of years of digestive and intestial chaos and family experiences of healing with natural medicine.

Sarah is nationally certified in naturopathic medicine by the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges and in acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Other interests include rowing, hiking, gardening, and consuming (and cooking) delicious foods.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
By integrating both Naturopathic and Chinese medicine Sarah strives for excellence in providing the best care possible to each patient, acting as a partner on the path to optimal health while honoring the basic principles of natural medicine. Sarah takes time to listen to the whole story, answer questions and educate. She helps to uncover the underlying causes of imbalance and offers safe and effective individualized, natural treatments including clinical nutrition, homeopathy, botanical medicine, acupuncture, and lifestyle counseling.

Camille Grosso, PhD, APRN, BC
Clinical Nurse Specialist

Dr. Grosso was born in Geneva, New York. She graduated from Willard State Hospital with a diploma in nursing. Following marriage and two children, she received an undergraduate degree in Nursing from George Mason University, a master's degree in Nursing from Catholic University and a PhD in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Grosso has experience in hospital nursing, hospital administration, and the teaching of nursing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Since 1982, she has maintained a private practice of psychotherapy, helping patients with anxiety, depression and the major mental illnesses. More recently, her practice has expanded to include helping patients with chronic pain, chronic illness, and stress-related illnesses.

Dr. Grosso has memberships in various professional organizations. She is certified in Adult Mental-Health Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and also in Clinical Hypnotherapy by the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. She most recently completed a certificate program in Biofeedback. She is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Grosso joined Nova in 2003.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Grosso believes in the total integration of mind and body. She joins with patients to help them attain optimum levels of wellness.

Haesun Hwang, RD, CDE
Registered Dietitian & Certified Diabetes Educator

Haesun Hwang is a registered dietitian and a certified diabetes educator. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo. She then completed her combined dietetic internship and Masters of Science degree in Nutritional Science at Tufts University in affiliation with New England Medical Center. Haesun also received specialized diabetes training from the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and the International Diabetes Center in Minneapolis, MN. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Diabetes Educators and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Over the last 17 years, Haesun has worked as an inpatient dietitian serving adults, children and the neonatal population. She has also worked as a diabetes educator at Inova Fair Oaks Diabetes Center and Sentera Potomac Hospital. In addition to seeing patients at Nova Medical Group, Haesun is an inpatient dietitian clinical specialist at Inova Alexandria Hospital. She is fluent in both English and Korean.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Haesun believes in preventive medicine. She believes that living a healthy lifestyle can help to prevent and manage chronic medical conditions. Haesun uses a personalized medical approach, supported by strong, evidence-based research, to manage each patient’s health. She helps patients to succeed by teaching them how to eat well-balanced diet, rather than one that focuses on restrictions.

Amy Johnson, RD, CDE
Registered Dietitian & Certified Diabetes Educator

Amy Johnson is a registered dietitian and a certified diabetes educator. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from James Madison University in 1992, graduating Magna Cum Laude. The following year, Amy completed her dietetics internship at Brigham & Women's Hospital, teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School, in Boston, MA. She also received specialized diabetes training from The Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and The International Diabetes Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Over the past 14 years, Amy has worked as an in-hospital dietitian, a media dietitian, and a home care specialist. In 2003, she received her certification as a diabetes educator. Before joining Nova Medical Group, Amy worked as a diabetes educator for the Inova Fair Oaks Diabetes Center. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Amy believes in teaching others to help themselves. With some guidance and tools, patients are very capable of making a lifetime of healthy food choices.

Teerawong Kasiolarn, ND, MSAc., LAc.
Naturopathic Doctor
Licensed Acupuncturist

Teerawong is certified in naturopathic medicine by the Naturopathic Licensing and Examination Board with additional certifications in acupuncture and integrative medicine. He is a Licensed and nationally certified acupuncturist in the state of Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biochemistry at Arizona State University. He received his Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Acupuncture in 2005 from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA, the world's leading academic center for natural health sciences and one of four accredited naturopathic medical schools in the country. Teerawong is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP).

Prior to working at Nova, Teerawong served as the Naturopathic resident at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine (UBCNM) in Connecticut, Yale-Prevention Research Center (PRC), and the Integrative Medicine Center (IMC) at Griffin Hospital, a teaching facility affiliated with Yale University. During his residency program, he was able to integrate both Conventional and Naturopathic Medicines to treat acute and chronic diseases. He also provided a monthly talk about health promotion and natural treatments to the general public at the Integrative Medicine Center.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Teerawong combines both western Naturopathic Medicine and eastern Traditional Chinese Medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. He truly believes in the key Naturopathic principle, "the Healing Power of Nature," in which he utilizes natural therapies that support and promote the body's innate healing ability. He addresses the underlying cause of conditions and treats a wide range of diseases through safe and effective individualized natural treatments including herbal medicine, homeopathy, dietery supplements, Acupuncture, clinical nutrition and lifestyle counseling.

James F. McMurry, Jr., MD
Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Board Certified in Endocrine

Born, raised and educated in Oklahoma, Dr. McMurry earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1965 and became a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed an internal medicine residency in 1969 and endocrinology training in 1971. Dr. McMurry is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the Endocrine Society and a former President of the Washington, DC Affiliate of the American Diabetes Association.

After practicing for many years in his solo medical practice in Montgomery County, Maryland, Dr. McMurry and his wife Rebecca moved to Leesburg. During his time off, Dr. McMurry enjoys photography, genealogy and exploring early Virginian history with his wife.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. McMurry believes that patient education plays a pivotal role in effective care, especially in the treatment of advanced medical conditions.

Dawna M. Rogers, MD
Dermatology
Internal Medicine

Dawna M. Rogers, MD earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Brown University in Providence, RI. She continued her education at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., where she earned her Doctor of Medicine in 1984. She then completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of California at Irvine/Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, CA, and her residency in dermatology at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.

Following her residencies, Dr. Rogers worked for Tulane University Department of Medicine as a staff physician for six years. She then relocated to Maryland where she was employed by Kaiser Permanente as the staff physician in dermatology for many years. Dr. Rogers joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, Inc. in July 2011.

Dr. Rogers is actively engaged with the community and has been involved with Capital City Links in Washington, D.C. since 1998.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Rogers believes that by listening carefully to a patient's concerns and establishing a strong provider-patient relationship, a proper skin care regimen can be developed to optimize each patient's health, beauty and lifestyle.
