Rachel F. Bonner, MSN, FNP
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Rachel received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Pennsylvania State University in 1994. In May of 1999, she earned her Masters of Science in Nursing at the George Mason University in collaboration with the George Washington School of Medicine.

Rachel is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society. Rachel has extensive experience in the treatment of infectious diseases and the care of adults and children suffering from HIV and AIDS. She has worked in acute care settings as well as clinics for the underserved and indigent population of Northern Virginia. She joined Nova Medical Group in 2004.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Rachel believes in treating patients with compassion and respect and empowering them to make healthy decisions about their lifestyle and treatment options.

Shawn D. Dowe, MSN, WHC, FNP-C
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Board Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner


Shawn received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1995.  She attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX where she completed her training as a women’s health nurse practitioner in 1998.  After moving to California with her husband and family, she further studied as a family nurse practitioner at the Harbor UCLA, which she completed 2003.  Shawn holds dual board certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner by the National Credentialing Center.

 

Shawn comes to Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, Inc. bringing experience from a variety of healthcare settings including family practice, urgent care, preventive medicine, women’s health care, diabetes education, and disease management.  Shawn served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross at the Naval Hospital while stationed in Okinawa, Japan with her husband and children.  She was later hired at the Naval Hospital to provide care to military members and their families.

 

Shawn is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health, the American Academy of Diabetic Educators, and Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society.

 

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY

Shawn strongly believes in establishing a collaborative relationship with the patient, providing the tools and knowledge individuals need to become an active participant in their healthcare.

 

Shawn can speak English and Spanish.

Carleigh Kessler, FNP
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

 

Carleigh Kessler, FNP was born and raised in Loudoun County, Va. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lynchburg College in 2007. In May of 2012, she earned her Masters of Science in Nursing at Marymount University in Arlington, Va.

 

Prior to joining Nova, Carleigh worked in the cardiac transplant program at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, gaining extensive cardiology experience. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a member of the Academy of Nurse Practitioners.


PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Carleigh believes in empowering the patient through education and giving them the proper tools to live a healthy lifestyle. She is dedicated to building an open and trusting relationship between the patient and provider. She encourages patients to take an active participation in their healthcare.

Adrian Krutz, MSN, FNP
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

 

Adrian Krutz, FNP received both her Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

 

Adrian is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Among her passions for providing primary and urgent care to the community, Adrian also has extensive diabetic clinical research experience. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.


PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Adrian’s experiences have provided her with the insight into the effects of poor health on the lives of patients and their families, and the tremendous importance of individualized patient care. She believes in patient and family education as a vital tool in disease prevention and control, as well as empowering them to actively participate in their own healthcare. Adrian looks forward to making prevention, wellness, evidence-based practice, and patient education her professional priorities.

Theresa Nielsen, MSN, FNP
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Theresa Nielsen, FNP received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Columbia Union College. She then continued her education, earning her Masters of Science in Nursing at the George Mason University in collaboration with the George Washington School of Medicine.

Theresa is certified as a Family & Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Despite her passion for urgent care, she enjoys and has extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient care. Theresa is also very interested in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (Bio-HRT), women’s health and family medicine. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. Theresa joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center in 2011.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Theresa believes in functional medicine and that the concept of less medicine is “Where it’s at.” She encourages lifestyle modifications and utilizes an individual approach to optimize each patient’s health. Theresa loves what she does and takes pride in doing her job well.

Erica Schuman, MSN, FNP
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Erica Schuman, MSN, FNP grew up in Central Florida and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University in 2005. The following year, she relocated to Northern Virginia. She continued her education at George Washington University where she earned her Masters of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner degree in August 2012. Erica is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Before joining Nova Medical Group in March 2013, Erica spent many years in the Operating Room at Inova Fairfax Hospital, specializing in Orthopaedics. She also has experience with urology, ENT, general, and plastic surgery. In her spare time, Erica enjoys training for marathons and travels as much as possible.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Erica has a passion for preventive medicine and patient education. She believes in a comprehensive healthcare model, integrating alternative approaches to traditional Western Medicine in her practice.


 

Ran Yang, MSN, FNP
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Ran received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from George Mason University and her masters in Nursing, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner Program at George Mason University in collaboration with the George Washington University School of Medicine.

Ran is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse Credentialing Center and is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. She has extensive experience in nursing in a variety of settings, from occupational care to acute care at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Ran joined Nova Urgent Care in 2005 and is fluent in English and Chinese.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Ran believes in listening attentively to her patients, individualizing their care by taking into account medical, social, economic, and cultural dimensions and empowering patients with appropriate information to make informed decisions regarding their care.

 

Ran can speak English, Chinese and Mandarin.
