Community Acupuncture

Nova offers Community Acupuncture Sessions for patients interested in receiving treatments at a lowered cost. For acupuncture to be most effective, patients need to receive treatment frequently and regularly; far more frequently and regularly than most insurance plans will pay for. For this reason, some patients find themselves wanting to receive acupuncture but unable to pay the constant out-of-pocket expenses. This inaccessibility is the antithesis of the core beliefs of acupuncture. It was meant to be a simple, effective method of healing for all people. Community acupuncture clinics represent a return to the traditional accessibility of acupuncture.

During a community acupuncture session, four individuals are treated at once in a group setting, allowing for a reduced cost per person. Community acupuncturists focus on using "distal" points (below the knee and elbow, and on the head and neck) so that patients can remain fully clothed during treatment. Community acupuncture clinics also often use recliners rather than treatment tables. All conditions can be treated in a group setting. If you are concerned that your needs will not be met in a group environment, you may want to begin with a private session and then join the group once you are comfortable with the acupuncture process.

If you have any questions or are unsure as to whether acupuncture is right for you, please schedule an appointment with Teerawong Kasiolarn, ND, MSAc, LAc or Sarah Giardenelli, ND, MSOM, LAc.
